It started as a two-second test of what Photoshop’s grass-blade brush could do. It turned into a three-hour test of what I could do with the brush.

At first glance, it seemed like a cute little toy included to show off what was possible with brush panel. Not a brush really intended to be taken seriously unless you’re a card-carrying member of the regiment of monstrous bevelers.

That’s when the MacGyver in me whipped out his pocket knife and started the assembly montage sequence, complete with drum-kit score. Sprayed some blades across multiple layers, varied the size, blurred the heck out of a few for depth, and topped it off with an overcast sky.

Happy with those results, I decided it was time to make wallpaper. All that was left was to decide for sure if it was a neglected lawn, or the back of an agitated calico.
